Tomahawks Fall in Shootout, Earn Four of Six in Weekend Series

The Tomahawks fell to the Maine Nordiques in the shootout Saturday night to end the weekend series in Lewiston. Johnstown secured four of a possible six points in the three-game series this weekend. Goaltender Adam Johnson made 35 saves on 38 shots.

Jackson Foddrill netted the first goal of the game and the first of his NAHL career 2:11 into Saturday night’s contest to give his Nordiques an early 1-0 lead. With 6:29 remaining in the period, Oliver Genest extended the lead to 2 for the Nordiques, giving them a 2-0 lead to end the first period.

4:10 into the second period, Johnny Ulicny showed life for Johnstown, netting his tenth of the season to bring the Tomahawks within one. Will Lawrence knotted the game at 2 at the 14:09 mark of the middle frame, setting up a tied game to start the third period.

Foddrill scored his second goal of the game to regain the lead for the Nordiques early in the third period. Will Moore ties the game back up at 3, securing his sixth point of the weekend, with 8:49 remaining in regulation.

Moore’s goal forced overtime for the second time in the series. In similar fashion to Thursday night, Johnstown took a late penalty in overtime. Time was on Johnstown’s side though as the clock expired, sending the game to a shootout.

Maine’s Sterling Wolters scored the lone goal in the shootout, giving the Nordiques a 4-3 win over the Tomahawks to end the weekend.
