Tomahawks Fall To Eagles 3-0

Sault Ste. Marie, Mich.- The Johnstown Tomahawks fell 3-0 Friday night in the opening game of a weekend series against the Soo Eagles at Pullar Stadium in Sault Ste. Marie, Mich.

         

Bruno Birzitis got the Eagles on the board early, scoring 1:37 into the game. Scott Cuthrell and Kristofers Bindulis each added assists on the goal. Nick Belger then scored the final two goals, scoring at 4:38 of the second period and 18:11 of the third period.

           

Landon Trutt earned the shutout win, stopping 28 shots. Alex Okicki took the loss, stopping 30 of 33 shots. Neither team took advantage of the power-play, with both Johnstown and Soo going 0-for-5.

           

The Tomahawks and Eagles meet tomorrow night at 7 p.m., before concluding the weekend series on Sunday afternoon at 3 p.m. The Tomahawks then travel to Springfield and Port Huron over the next two weekends, before returning home Jan. 24 and 25 to take on the Michigan Warriors.
