Tomahawks Fall To Ice Dogs 4-2

JOHNSTOWN – The Johnstown Tomahawks fell to the Fairbanks Ice Dogs 4-2 in a tight-checking contest Friday, Jan. 8 at the Cambria County War Memorial Arena.

The Tomahawks struck first on the man advantage when Luke Lynch scored his 15th of the season. Tommy Horn and Niko Coffman registered the assists.

Fairbanks would tie the game early in the second period when Tyler Tomberlin notched his seventh goal of the season. The goal came on the power play and was assisted by Reggie Lutz.

Several minutes later Logan Coomes added his 17th goal of the year on the power play when he finished a center pass from Ryner Gorowsky to give Fairbanks the 2-1 lead.

In the early stages of the third period, the Tomahawks tied the game. Andrew Romano backhanded a shot of the glove of Ice Dogs goalie Gavin Nieto.
Casey Linkenheld assisted on Romano’s 10th of the season.

Fairbanks reclaimed the one-goal lead with over eight minutes left to play in regulations when Gorowsky netted a goal past Tomahawks goalie Ryan Glander.

Reggie Lutz sealed the Ice Dogs victory at 4-1 with a last minute goal in the third period.

Nieto picked up his 17th win of the season while Glander took the loss, his fourth of the campaign, stopped 23 Fairbanks shots of 27.
