Tomahawks fall to Ironmen, 3-2, in Regular Season Home Finale

After a physical game Friday night, the Johnstown Tomahawks and Jamestown Ironmen took their rivalry even further Saturday night. Jamestown was able to pull out a 3-2 win In Johnstown in front of a sellout crowd of 3,815,

The teams combined for 106 penalty minutes, seven fighting majors, and three game ejections.

Joe Ballmer picked up the victory, stopping 30 of 32 shots. Chris Truehl took the loss, stopping 21 of 24 shots.

Jamestown got on the board first as a shot from Luc Gerdes was able to slide through the Truehl’s pads and make it just past the left post at 5:00 of the first period.

Later in the first period, Ross Pavek scored on the power play to give the Ironmen a 2-0 lead.

Ryan Doucet extended the Ironmen lead to 3-0, scoring just 19 seconds into the second period.

Early in the third period, the Tomahawks got on the board as a shot from Zach Wallace slid past Ballmer, and inside the left post at 2:29. The goal is McDonald’s 13th of the season and 11th as a member of the Tomahawks.

The deficit was cut to one as JB Baker fired a shot into the net to the left of Ballmer at 11:51. Baker has five points (3-2-5) in the last five games.

Throughout the game on Saturday night, giveaways including movie passes to the Westwood Plaza Theater and Café, Planet Ice skating passes, and Tomahawks rally towels from CTC were given out to fans. Mascots from various organizations around the Johnstown area were in attendance greeting fans and participating in a mascot soccer game during the first intermission.
