Tomahawks Fall To Titans in Weekend Finale

MIDDLETOWN– The Johnstown Tomahawks fell to the New Jersey Titans 8-1 Saturday night at Middletown Ice World. The Tomahawks went 1-1 on the weekend, after defeating Wilkes-Barre/Scranton 6-3 on Friday night.

 

New Jersey got on the board first, as Bruno Birzitis took a cross-ice pass from Michael Gelatt and fired it into an open net 46 seconds into the first period.

 

Later in the period, the Titans extended their lead, as Jesse Farabee scored at 10:46. They made it 4-0 in the second period, thanks a Joseph Schuler goal 20 seconds in and a power-play goal by Roberts Smits at 4:27.

 

Johnstown got on the board later in the second period, as Ryan Burr tallied a power-play goal. Casey Linkenheld and Andrew Romano added the assist on the goal.

 

New Jersey regained its four-goal lead just over a minute later, as Keegan Miller scored at 14:48. Birzitis and Smits scored to set the final score at 8-1.

 

Jack Berry earned the win in his return from injury, stopping 41 of 42 shots. Andrew Lindgren and Ryan Glander suffered the loss, stopping 33 of 41 shots.
