Nov 28, 2014

The Johnstown Tomahawks and Janesville Jets battled hard for well over 59 minutes. A late regulation goal denied the Tomahawks at least one point in a 3-2 loss on Saturday night at the Cambria County War Memorial Arena.

Trevor Recktenwald got the Tomahawks on the board in the first, taking advantage of a 2-on-1 opportunity to fire a shot into the top left corner of the net at 9:52. Joe Drabin added the assist

Janesville tied the game in the second period, as Nils Rygaard knocked the puck over a sprawling Ryan Bednard and into the net at 15:15. Grant Hutton and Mitch Fossier added the assists on the goal.

Dan Kucerovy gave the Jets their first lead of the game 1:20 into the third period, as his shot from in front of goaltender Ryan Bednard hit the top right corner of the net. Fossier earned the assist on the goal.

Cam Bleck tied the game for the Tomahawks at 5:14, sending a shot between the legs of Matt Jurusik. Dakoda Menslage earned the assist on Bleck’s eighth goal of the season.

The Jets took the lead with 14 seconds remaining in regulation, as an errant pass was stolen by Zach Yoder and fired past Bednard. Fossier earned his second assist of the game on the goal.

Jurusik earned the win, stopping 17 of 19 shots. Bednard took the loss, stopping 19 of 22 shots. The Tomahawks went 1-for-6 on the power-play, while going 4-for-4 on the penalty kill against a strong Janesville power play.

The Tomahawks conclude their three-game homestand next Sunday against the Michigan Warriors. Face-off is set for 5 p.m. at the Cambria County War Memorial. For more information, or to purchase tickets, visit or call 814-536-GOAL.
