Tomahawks Hold Main Tryout Camp Aug. 9-12

Aug 2, 2012

JOHNSTOWN, Pa. – The Johnstown Tomahawks will conduct their main tryout camp Aug. 9-12 at Planet Ice in Johnstown, Pa. About 70 players chosen from the initial camps in Pittsburgh, Minnesota, and New Jersey will compete for a spot on the team's roster.

Head Coach Jason Spence and Assistant Coach Mike Letizia will evaluate players during a series of scrimmages to be played throughout the 4-day camp.

"This is an opportunity for the players to display what they can bring to our team," said Spence. "Each player will contribute something different. It's my job to decide how we can put it all together to help create chemistry and to build a championship team."

On Sunday, Aug. 12 at 12:00 p.m., the remaining prospects will play in an All Star Game that is open to the public.

The selected players from this tryout camp will attend the team's training camp to be held August 20-31. According to NAHL rules, all clubs must have their rosters reduced to 25 players by Sept. 1.

The Tomahawks open the season on Saturday, Sept. 8 with two games in Port Huron, Mich. before returning to the War Memorial for the home opener on Saturday, Sept. 29 vs. the division-rival Michigan Warriors.
