The Johnstown Tomahawks lost a hard fought game against the Soo Eagles 4-3 as Face-Off-Against Cancer Weekend wrapped up on Saturday night.

Trevor Recktenwald opened up the scoring for the Tomahawks as he buried the puck behind the Eagles’ goalie, Colin Brennan, to earn his first goal of the season.  The Eagles came right back 1:09 later with a goal by Jacob McDowell to tie the game at one.  Denver Pierce added another quick goal to give the Eagles a 2-1 lead seven minutes into the game.  The Eagles’ lead continued as Ryan Urso scored on the power play to make it 3-1.

The Tomahawks came back with a vengeance early in the second as Joe Drabin went glove-side to turn it into a 3-2 game.  Joe Drabin scored his second of the night at 10:05 when he redirected the puck from Mitch Hall’s shot to tie it up at three after two periods.

Mike Sabatini of the Eagles scored with six minutes remaining in the third to set the final score at 4-3.

Alex Okicki stopped 19 of 23 shots for the Tomahawks, and Colin Brennan made 26 saves on 29 shots for the Eagles.

The Tomahawks play the Port Huron Fighting Falcons next weekend, Nov. 2-3, at the War Memorial.  The weekend is set to include Kids Weekend, a team poster giveaway on both days and a post-game skate with Tomahawks players on Nov. 3rd.
