JOHNSTOWN – The Johnstown Tomahawks earned a hard-fought 4-2 win over the Northeast Generals to win the East Division Semi-Finals three games to two.
Scoring Breakdown:
1st Period Recap
In the early stages of the first period, the Tomahawks peppered the net with shots and also kept the Generals in their defensive zone for extended periods of time.
Johnstown’s penalty kill stepped up and erased an early power play by Northeast before resuming their zone superiority.
However, Northeast netminder David Fessenden proved difficult to beat and kept the game 0-0 as the first period came to a close.

2nd Period Recap
It was more of the same for the Tomahawks they continued an onslaught of shots on Fessenden.
Finally, at the 11:40 mark of the second period, Roman Kraemer solved Fesenden with a low shot that skipped through the five hole of the 6-5 goalie. Sam Solensky picked up the lone helper.
Less than one minute later, Carson Brière swatted a puck out of mid-air past the extended glove of Fessenden for a 2-0 Johnstown advantage. Cam Hebert registered the assist.

3rd Period Recap:
Northeast would battle back to cut the deficit to 2-1 when Trevor Smith deflected a shot from Joe Nagle past Carter McPhail.
The Generals would tie the game at the 8:57 mark of the third period after a goal from Matt Rutigliano.
With the momentum in the hands of Northeast, the Tomahawks looked for a response.
Kraemer would provide that response at the 12:21 mark of the period when his shot from the far side beat Fessenden inside the post fora 3-2 Tomahawks lead.
Oliver Benwell sealed the series for the Tomahawks when his backhand shot found the cage at the 18:47 mark of the third period.
