The Johnstown Tomahawks are excited to unveil their leadership team for the upcoming 2024-2025 season. Leading the charge will be defenseman Dylan Shane, who has been named team Captain.
“We are pleased to announce our leadership group for the upcoming season,” said Johnstown Tomahawks Head Coach and General Manager, Jared Kersner. “Dylan Shane has been selected as our team Captain, an obvious choice for our staff. His leadership qualities were immediately evident from the moment we began working together. Dylan exemplifies the six core principles of leadership: Competence, Character, Consistency, Courage, Connection, and Communication.”
Entering his third season with the Tomahawks, Shane steps into the Captain’s role after serving as an Assistant Captain last season. The Kutztown, PA native, who is committed to Niagara University, has been a cornerstone on the ice, playing in 124 games for Johnstown.
“I am honored and grateful for this opportunity to serve as the Captain for the Johnstown Tomahawks,” said Shane. “I am excited to see what we will be able to do this year. I have a very good feeling for this season. I can’t wait to see all the fans at the arena for games! Go Hawks!”
Joining Shane in the leadership group is returning defenseman Lukas Klemm, who will continue to serve his second season as an assistant captain. Klemm, a Mercyhurst University commit, had an outstanding 2023-2024 season, appearing in 60 games and earning honors in both the NAHL Top Prospects Game and the NAHL All-East Team.
Forward Nick White will also wear the “A” this season. The Ottawa, Ontario native appeared in 58 games last season for the Johnstown Tomahawks, tallying 15 goals and 19 assists for 34 points. Whites team veteran status is expected to strengthen the team’s core.
The Tomahawks are also pleased to introduce two Tomahawks newcomers to the leadership team: forward Nick Jarmain and defenseman Caden Olenczak, both former players under Tomahawks head coach and general manager, Jared Kersner. Jarmain, hailing from Mooresville, NJ, spent last season with the New Jersey Rockets (NCDC), where he played in 49 games, contributing 11 goals and 8 assists. Olenczak, from Atlanta, GA, brings defensive depth to the roster after appearing in 52 games for the New Jersey Rockets (NCDC), posting 4 goals and 16 assists.
“Supporting Dylan will be our alternate captains: returning players Lukas Klemm and Nick White, along with newcomers Caden Olenczak and Nick Jarmain,” said Kersner. “These individuals have demonstrated a high level of professionalism, both on and off the ice. Their dedication to personal growth and development has been nothing short of inspiring, and we are confident they will make valuable contributions to our leadership group.”
The Tomahawks will kick off their season with an exhibition game against the United States National Team Development Program at 1ST SUMMIT Arena. Puck drop is set for 7:00 PM. Tickets are available on the Tomahawks’ website or at the team’s main office.
