Tomahawks Pick Up Ninth Straight Win in 3-0 Defeat of Kenai River

Jan 7, 2017

JOHNSTOWN – Johnstown Tomahawks goaltender Drew Hotte stopped all 20 shots he faced to backstop a 3-0 over Kenai River Friday night at the Cambria County War Memorial.

The Tomahawks went on a five-minute man advantage early in the first period when Kenai River forward Jonas Warmen hit Tomahawks defenseman Chris Trouba from behind.

Forward Donovan Ott capitalized on the extended power play when he rifled a puck past the block side of Brown Bears goaltender Robbie Goor to give the Tomahawks a 1-0. Filips Buncis and Andrew Quetell registered the assists on Ott’s 19th of the season.

In the second period, the Tomahawks added to their advantage late after Daniil Bokun’s shot from the left point found its way behind Goor. Bokun’s third of the season was assisted by Sammy Solensky and Tommy Horn.

The third period was a tight-checking affair with the Brown Bears and Tomahawks exchanging scoring chances.

However, the Tomahawks would salt the game at 3-0 when Logan Stork put the puck into an empty net for his ninth of the season.

Hotte picked up his twelfth win on the season improving his record to 12-5-1 on the season so far.

The Tomahawks are back in action Saturday, January 7 against the same Kenai River Brown Bears. Faceoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
