The Johnstown Tomahawks picked up the weekend sweep against the Philadelphia Rebels on Saturday night in front of their home fans on Breast Cancer Awareness Night at 1ST SUMMIT ARENA.

Picking up right where he left off, Anthony Galante opened the scoring for the Tomahawks 6:31 into the game on Saturday night with a power play goal. Philadelphia responded with a goal of their own from Brock Jones nine minutes later, tying the game at one to end the first period.

Zach Aben and Drake Albers score 59 seconds apart in the first 2:30 of the second period to give the Tomahawks a quick 3-1 lead, but the Rebels responded as Connor Sedlak scored on the power play and Jared Kaplowitz added onto the scoring to make it a one-goal game favoring the Tomahawks. Then with just 30 seconds remaining in the period, Philadelphia’s Trever Burns went coast-to-coast to tie the game at 4, setting the scene for a crucial third period.

With 1:54 remaining in regulation, Albers netted a power play goal for Johnstown, lifting them to a 5-4 lead. Aben sealed the deal for the Tomahawks with an empty net goal and Johnstown earned the weekend sweep and a 6-4 win against the Rebels.
