Tomahawks Run Away with Win Friday

Feb 18, 2022

The Johnstown Tomahawks secured a 3-1 win against the Jamestown Rebels Friday night with a crowd of 2,095 fans in attendance and Pittsburgh Steelers legend Rocky Bleier in attendance.

Jamestown found the back of the net first Friday night, as John Lundy scored 13:23 into the game. His goal would be the only of the period as Jamestown outshot Johnstown 10-6.

Johnstown tied things up in the 2nd period as Holt Oliphant scored a shorthanded goal with the Tomahawks on a double-minor penalty kill. Just when it looked like the game was headed to the 3rd period tied at 1, Oliphant scored again with just one second left in the period, which gave the Tomahawks a 2-1 lead going into the final 20 minutes.

Jake Black secured the win for the Tomahawks late in the game with an empty net goal, making it a 3-1 final Friday night. Matt O’Donnell was solid in net for the Tomahawks 22 saves on 23 shots.

The Rebels and Tomahawks face off again tomorrow. Tickets are available through the Tomahawks office in person or by calling 814-536-4625.
