Tomahawks Score Three Goals in Third Period To Secure Regular Season Title in 3-2 Win

JOHNSTOWN – The Johnstown Tomahawks used three third period goals to defeat the Jamestown Rebels 3-2 and secure the team’s first regular season league title.

The Tomahawks Rebels exchanged scoring chances but neither goaltender surrendered a goal.
Johnstown’s best chance of the period came when Christian Gorscak went in on Rebels goalie Noah West on a breakaway, but was stopped by the goaltender

2nd Period Recap
Both goaltenders starred in the second period, turning away chances from either side.
Jamestown gained the momentum with extended time in the Tomahawks zone later in the second period.
The Rebels gained a 1-0 lead when Niki Jasko completed a breakaway on Carter McPhail.

3rd Period Recap:
The third period momentum swung in favor of the Tomahawks as the team rattled off numerous chances on West.
Tomahawks forward Bennett Stockdale tied the game at 1-1 when his shot from the right circle solved West through his five-hole.
Five minutes later, Roman Kraemer gave the Tomahawks their first lead of the evening with a power play goal at the 11:42 mark of the second period. Oliver Benwell assisted on the goal.
Chad Merrell chipped in his eighth of the season at 16:09 of the third period for a 3-1 Tomahawks lead.
Jamestown added another goal from Hunter Johannes with one second remaining to salt the game at 3-2 Tomahawks.
