Nov 12, 2023

The Johnstown Tomahawks defeated the Philadelphia Rebels Saturday night, completing the sweep and expanding their winning streak to four.

The initial period commenced with a sluggish yet spirited beginning, as both teams eagerly sought to secure two points. Following a tense match the night before, emotions were running high. The goaltenders showcased their top-notch skills, preventing any goals in the first period. However, the deadlock was broken when Nick White, assisted by Zach Aben and Isaac Holt, managed to slip one past the Rebels’ goaltender with just a second remaining. This late goal propelled the Tomahawks to a 1-0 lead over the Rebels after the first 20 minutes.

The second period commenced with a goal from Will Lawrence just five minutes in, assisted by Will Moore and Justin Gibson, extending the Tomahawks’ lead to 2-0. As the period concluded, the score remained unchanged, with the Tomahawks maintaining a 2-0 advantage.

Philadelphia initiated the scoring in the third period, narrowing the Tomahawks’ lead to 2-1. Nevertheless, in the waning seconds of regulation, Chase Sandhu secured his second unassisted goal of the night, extending the Tomahawks’ lead to 3-1 and ultimately clinching the victory. Zack Ferris delivered yet another outstanding performance, stopping 30 of 31 shots.

The Tomahawks are set to take on the Maine Nordiques in a two-game series in Lewistown, Maine, with the first game scheduled for Friday, November 17th at 7:30 PM and the second on Saturday, November 18th at 7:00 PM.
