Tomahawks Secure Playoff Berth with Overtime Win Friday

The Johnstown Tomahawks defeated the Danbury Jr. Hat Tricks Friday night in overtime by a final score of 3-2.

Danbury broke the ice in Friday night’s game with a goal from Peter Lajoy 7:45 in. After some fisticuffs, Owen Simmons extended the Hat Tricks lead to 2 late in the opening period, giving them a 2-0 lead after 20 minutes.

Jacob Badal got the Tomahawks on the board 4:53 into the 2nd with his 20th goal of the season. The period saw more altercations between the two teams with late season tensions heating up. The period eventually ended with Danbury hanging onto a 2-1 lead to start the 3rd period.

Captain Holt Oliphant tied the game up at 2 for his team with 7:41 remaining in regulation. As time went on, 60 minutes wasn’t enough and the game headed to overtime. With only 1:43 remaining, the captain did it again as Oliphant secured the win and a big two points for the Tomahawks, giving them a 3-2 win Friday night.
