Oct 6, 2016

SOLDOTNA, Alaska – Johnstown Tomahawks goaltender Britt League posted a shut out as the Tomahawks earned a 3-0 victory over the Kenai River Brown Bears Wednesday night at the Soldotna Regional Sports Complex.

Johnstown scored the first goal of the contest when Tiernan Seningen made a series of moves around Kenai River defensemen and deposited the puck low glove side behind Brown Bears goalie Bailey Seagraves to give the Tomahawks a 1-0 lead.

The Tomahawks went on to send 15 shots on net during the first period and in the process control the play for most the stanza.

After Kenai River missed an opportunity to tie the game on the power play early in the second frame, the Tomahawks would strike again.

Riley Doyon saucered a nice pass to the tape of forward Hayden Rowan who roofed the puck past Seagraves for a 2-0 Johnstown lead.

With less than two minutes to play in the second period, Tomahawks forward Samuel Solensky buried a cross-ice pass from Josh Biasillo to increase the Johnstown advantage to 3-0.

In the third period, League would swipe away five Brown Bears shots en route to a 3-0 win for the Tomahawks.

With the win, Johnstown moves back into first place in the East Division with a 7-1-1 record. That mark also places the Tomahawks first in the league’s overall standings.

The Tomahawks and Brown Bears renew the series with an 11:30 p.m. faceoff scheduled for Friday, Oct. 5 at the Soldotna Regional Sports Complex. Fans can watch the game live on HockeyTV(formerly FastHockey) or follow the Tomahawks social media accounts for updated action.
