Tomahawks Shut Out in Northeast

ATTLEBORO, Mass. – The Johnstown Tomahawks were unable to find the back of the net in a 4-0 defeat against the Northeast Generals Saturday night at the New England Sports Village.
Northeast broke the scoreless tie midway through the first period when Matthew Wiesner solved Tomahawks goaltender Britt League. Mike Egan and Brady Gaudette assisted on the marker.
The Generals added to their lead late in the period with a goal from Anthony Quatieri to make the score 2-0 in favor of Northeast.
Johnstown and Northeast clamped down defensively, not allow either side to set up and solve their respective goaltenders in the second period.
The score remained 2-0 going into the third period.
Generals forward Colin Bilek increased the Northeast advantage to 3-0 with his marker with five minutes remaining in the third period.
Northeast capitalized on a Tomahawks turnover in their own zone when Quatieri hammered home a goal to set the final at 4-0.
Northeast goaltender Marko Sturma stopped all 24 shots he faced in the victory. League posted a solid effort in his first loss of the season.
Both teams conclude the series Sunday, Oct. 8 with a 12:00 p.m. contest. The Tomahawks open the home portion of their schedule on Saturday, Oct. 14 with Hawktoberfest presented by 1ST SUMMIT BANK. Four-time Stanley Cup champion Paul Coffey will drop the ceremonial first puck. Coffey’s appearance is presented in part by 1ST SUMMIT BANK, Laurel Auto Group, Emaps, Inco Beverage, Johnstown Construction, Roxbury Tire and Valley Printing. Mr. Coffey will be available to meet fans and sign autographs following the ceremonial puck drop behind section 9.
