Tomahawks Sweep Generals

Nov 13, 2021

The Johnstown Tomahawks defeated the Northeast Generals by a final score of 3-2 Saturday night in Johnstown.

The game started out with high-impact play from both sides. Johnny Ulicny opened the scoring Saturday night, netting his sixth goal of the season at the 12:04 mark of the 1st period. Ulicny’s goal would be the only of the first 20, sending the Tomahawks into the intermission up by one.

Things were quiet in the 2nd period with nothing to show other than the Tomahawks killing off a penalty early in the period.

Stephen Kyrkostas extended the lead for the Tomahawks early in the 2nd period for his seventh goal of the season. Four minutes later Ryan Gordon got the Generals on the board, making it 2-1 in favor of Johnstown. Just 39 seconds later, David Matousek regained the two-goal lead for the Tomahawks with his fifth goal of the season, followed by Northeast’s Matt Despirit making it a one-goal game yet again with 11:09 remaining in regulation. The game came down to the final moments, but the Tomahawks held on to win by a final score of 3-2, earning the weekend sweep against the Generals.

The Tomahawks are back at it again next weekend to face off against the Danbury Jr. Hat Tricks for a two gamer in Johnstown on Saturday, November 20 and Sunday, November 21. Tickets can be purchased through ticketmaster.com or by calling the Tomahawks office at 814-536-4265.
