Tomahawks Sweep Hat Tricks, Win Fourth Straight Game

The Johnstown Tomahawks defeated the Danbury Jr. Hat Tricks 3-2 Saturday afternoon, earning a weekend sweep on the road and their fourth straight win.

Will Lawrence opened the scoring with his second goal of the weekend 3:37 into the game. Shortly after the goal, the game turned physical with 24 penalty minutes being assessed between the two teams. Will Moore netted and even strength goal in the late stages of the period, giving Johnstown a 2-0 lead after the first for the second consecutive game.

Andrew Eberling found the back of the net for Danbury for the first time this weekend, solving netminder and former teammate Adam Johnson 6:13 into the second period. Physicality increased steadily throughout the game, but Johnstown held a 2-1 lead as the horn sounded to end the second period.

Danbury tied the game 3:14 into the third period as Peter Lajoy scored his second goal of the season, but Johnstown responded quickly as Bryce Laager netted his first goal of the season 1:23 later, regaining the lead for his club. Laager’s goal would go on to be the game-winner as the Tomahawks defeated the Jr. Hat Tricks 3-2.
