Tomahawks Sweep Knights With 3-1 Win

PITTSTON, Pa. – The Johnstown Tomahawks picked up a 3-1 victory over the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Knights on Saturday afternoon at Revolution Ice Centre. Joe Kile scored his first goal since returning to the Tomahawks, while Ethan Webb had a pair of assists in the victory.
Johnstown struck first, as Kile took a quick pass from Webb and fired it off the crossbar and into the net at 5:27 of the first period. Chris Trouba also picked up an assist on Kile’s first goal since rejoining the team on Friday night.
The Tomahawks extended their lead in the second period, as Joey Baez corralled a loose rebound and scored on a shot from inside the right faceoff circle at 5:26. Webb and Pavel Kharin provided the initial shot and pass that led to Baez’s second goal of the season.
Alex Wilkins extended the Johnstown lead, as his shot from just inside the blue line deflected off Knights goaltender Samuel Vyletelka and over the goal line at 9:19 of the second period.
The Knights got their lone goal late in the second period, as Brett Postula scored a power-play goal at 18:11. Max Klanow and Anthony Starzi earned the assists on the goal.
Cooper Lukenda earned the victory, stopping 38 of 39 shots. Zach Stejskal took the loss, allowing 1 goal on 15 shots. Vyletelka allowed two goals on 30 shots after replacing Stejskal prior to the start of the second period.
Johnstown returns to 1st Summit Arena on Saturday, Oct. 27 at 7 p.m., for Hat-Trick or Treat presented by Forever Media. Fans are encouraged to dress up and participate in an indoor trick-or-treat at the game. Souvenir tote bags will be given out courtesy of Forever Media.
Sunday, Oct. 28 at 5 p.m. is the traditional Pucks & Paws event. Fans can bring their friendly dogs to the game for a $5 dog ticket. Souvenir dog leashes will be given away courtesy of Cambria Vet Care. The Tomahawks will accepted donations of dog food and pet cleaning supplies for the Humane Society of Cambria County.
