Tomahawks Sweep Nordiques, 5-2

The Maine Nordiques got off to a quick start to kick off game two in Johnstown. Scoring twice in the game’s first 7:37. Nordiques forward Tristan Fasig would tally an assist in each of Maine’s goals. Johnstown however refused to be shut out after one, as Jake Black would extend his point streak to 10 games by scoring a short-handed goal to make it 2-1 Nordiques after one period.

 

Johnstown then continued to ride the momentum in the second period, scoring the second frames’ only two goals. Jake Black recorded his second goal of the game for the second night in a row, as we headed into the third period with the Tomahawks up 3-2.

 

David Matousek added onto the total early into the third, scoring the insurance goal for the Hawks, making it 4-2. Dusty Geregach added the empty net goal with 22 seconds, and the Hawks would gain their first sweep of the year, walking out with a 5-2 win over the Maine Nordiques. Goaltender Sam Evola stopped 31/33, as final shots on goal were 33-28 for Maine.
