Tomahawks Swept by Titans

Feb 25, 2023

The Johnstown Tomahawks were defeated Saturday night in Middletown against the New Jersey Titans by a final score of 6-0. The Titans recorded their second shutout in as many days.

In a repeat from the previous night, the first period went scoreless in Middletown.

The second period, however, was a different story as New Jersey came out flying, scoring three goals in 1:51 to very quickly take a 3-0 lead with goals from Levente Keresztes, Brady Hildreth and Ethan Wongus. Later in the period, Johnny Ulicny was awarded a penalty shot and an opportunity to get Johnstown on the board. Ulicny’s shot just went wide and the game proceeded with a three-goal lead for the Titans. Robert Hyde and Michael Young got in on the festivities for the Titans in the later stages of the middle frame to give their club a 5-0 lead to begin the third period.

Ben Muthersbaugh put an exclamation point on the weekend for the Titans late in the third period to give New Jersey a 6-0 victory to close out the weekend.

The Tomahawks are on the road again next weekend as they head up north to Maine to face off against the Maine Nordiques for three games with the series kicking off on Thursday, March 2 at 7 PM.
