Tomahawks Take Over Titan Territory

The Johnstown Tomahawks defeated the New Jersey Titans 5-3 on Saturday night.

Following a weekend break the previous week, the Tomahawks were raring to kick off their weekend series against the New Jersey Titans. Justin Rapp wasted no time, scoring the opening goal just three minutes into the match, with Zach Aben providing the assist. However, the Titans managed to net a goal during the first period, resulting in a 1-1 tie between the Tomahawks and Titans by the end of the period.

Both NAHL East Division rivals engaged in an intense back-and-forth, and it took a full nine minutes for either team to score. The Titans finally broke the deadlock with a goal, taking a 2-1 lead. Goalkeeper Jacob Osborne continued his remarkable performance, making crucial saves throughout the game, including stopping a penalty shot awarded to New Jersey. The Tomahawks’ assistant captain, Will Lawrence, managed to equalize the game at 2-2 with a powerplay goal at 16:52, assisted by Justin Rapp and Zach Aben. Similar to the first period, the teams remained deadlocked at two at the buzzer.

In the final period, the Tomahawks took control of the game.The third period showcased the Tomahawks’ dominance. A new addition to the team, Chase Sandhu, marked his first goal as a Tomahawk, propelling the team to a 3-2 lead, assisted by Alexey Yarmulnik. Moments later, another recent team addition, Jaden Johnson, scored his inaugural goal as a Tomahawk, supported by Frankie Hipp and Will Moore, expanding the lead to 4-2 in favor of the Tomahawks. With just two minutes remaining, Jaden Johnson secured his second goal of the game, an empty-netter, elevating the Tomahawks to a 5-2 advantage. However, in the final minute, the Titans scored, but it wasn’t enough as the Tomahawks emerged victorious, prevailing over the Titans with a 5-3 win.

Tomorrow night, October 28th at 7:00 PM, the Johnstown Tomahawks are set to take on the New Jersey Titans in Middletown, New Jersey.
