TOMAHAWKS WEAR THE CROWN IN GAME ONE

The Johnstown Tomahawks defeated the New Hampshire Mountain Kings by a final score of, 4-2 on Friday night.

The opening period began rather uneventfully but quickly picked up momentum halfway through. Alexey Yarmulnik initiated the scoring for the Johnstown Tomahawks, assisted by Sean Morgan and Cade Baker. Throughout the period, the Tomahawks demonstrated proficiency in shooting on goal. Later, Jaden Johnson extended the lead with his eighth goal of the season, supported by assists from Will Lawrence and Zach Aben. As the period concluded, the Johnstown Tomahawks held a 2-0 advantage over the New Hampshire Mountain Kings.

In the second period, New Hampshire was the sole team to find the net, narrowing Johnstown’s lead to 2-1. Penalties were frequent on both ends of the ice, and both goaltenders made impressive saves. Jacob Osborne made 21 saves by the period’s end, maintaining the Tomahawks’ lead over the Mountain Kings at 2-1.

Nick White initiated the scoring in the third period, extending the Tomahawks’ lead to 3-1 on the power play, with assists from Will Lawrence and Lukas Klemm. However, just two minutes later, New Hampshire responded by finding the back of the net, bringing the score to 3-2. Despite New Hampshire tied the game at three, a further review nullified their goal keeping it at 3-2. With less than 20 seconds remaining in the period, Captain Zach Aben secured his 17th goal of the season, assisted by Will Lawrence and Justin Gibson, effectively sealing the victory for the Johnstown Tomahawks.  Jacob Osborne stopped 34 of 36 shots on goal during his stellar performance. The final score saw the Tomahawks defeating the New Hampshire Mountain Kings with a score of 4-2.
