Tomahawks Take Weekend Series with 3-1 Win

 

The Johnstown Tomahawks rebounded from Saturday night’s 7-2 loss with a 3-1 victory over the Michigan Warriors on Military Appreciation Night at the Cambria County War Memorial. The Tomahawk took two-of-three from the Warriors, putting them into a four-way tie with Keystone and Springfield in the North Division

Cody Kuster got Michigan (7-11-2) on the board 1:05 into the second period with a power-play goal just under the crossbar. Zed Dietrich and Brandon Wolfe.

Peter Bates tied the game for Johnstown (8-8-0) later in the period, poking the puck between the legs of Michigan goaltender Trevor Gorsuch at 9:23. Zac Robbins got the assist on the power-play oal.

Casey Linkenheld gave the Tomahawks their first lead of the game at 13:30 of the second period, scoring off the rebound from Cam Bleck’s shot. Linkenheld finished the weekend with three points against the Warriors.

Andrew Romano extended the Johnstown lead at 6:35 of the third period, poking a puck from the left side of Gorsuch that just slid over the goal line and past the right post. Ryan Bochert and Luke Lynch had the assists on Romano’s fifth of the season.

DiSimmone stopped 18 of 19 shots in the win, while Gorsuch took the loss, allowing three goals on 24 shots. The Tomahawks went 1-for-7 on the power play, while Michigan went 1-for-4.
