Even though the Johnstown Tomahawks and Maryland Black Bears have secured their spots in the Robertson Cup Playoffs, this weekend’s series had significant implications for playoff standings. Both teams showed a strong desire to win. Reid Lune opened the scoring in the first period with a power play goal assisted by Justin Gibson, giving the Johnstown Tomahawks an early 1-0 lead against the Maryland Black Bears. However, shortly after, Maryland took advantage of a 5-on-3 power play opportunity to tie the game at one. As a result, the two rivals from the East Division headed to their locker rooms with the score tied.
As the game entered its last two periods, a noticeable momentum shift occurred. Despite the Tomahawks’ opportunities, they couldn’t slip the puck past the Black Bears’ goaltender.
