Apr 6, 2024

The Johnstown Tomahawks fell to the Maryland Black Bears by a final score of, 4-1 on Friday night.

Even though the Johnstown Tomahawks and Maryland Black Bears have secured their spots in the Robertson Cup Playoffs, this weekend’s series had significant implications for playoff standings. Both teams showed a strong desire to win. Reid Lune opened the scoring in the first period with a power play goal assisted by Justin Gibson, giving the Johnstown Tomahawks an early 1-0 lead against the Maryland Black Bears. However, shortly after, Maryland took advantage of a 5-on-3 power play opportunity to tie the game at one. As a result, the two rivals from the East Division headed to their locker rooms with the score tied.

As the game entered its last two periods, a noticeable momentum shift occurred. Despite the Tomahawks’ opportunities, they couldn’t slip the puck past the Black Bears’ goaltender. Maryland seized control, netting three consecutive goals in the final two periods to secure a 4-1 victory over the Johnstown Tomahawks.
