Tomahawks Tame Brown Bears

Johnstown, Pa – The Johnstown Tomahawks defeated the Kenai River Brown Bears 3-1 Friday night at 1ST SUMMIT ARENA.
The Kenai River Brown Bears scored first at 8:18 of the first period. Gil Garcia scored his fourteenth goal of the season which was assisted by Luke Radetic.
The Tomahawks tied the game a little more than a minute later. At 9:44, Chris Trouba netted his first goal of the season. The assists went to Carson Briere and Andrew Quetell.
Neither team would score again in the period and the teams headed into the first intermission tied, 1-1.
Johnstown took the lead when Cade Groton scored his fifth goal of the season at 8:07. The assist went to Karim Del Ponte.
The Tomahawks continued to control most of the play, but Brown Bears’ goalie, Gavin Enright was solid in-between the pipes and kept the Tomahawks from taking a further lead.
After two periods of play Johnstown led 2-1.
The Tomahawks went up 3-1 at 7:48 of the third period when Joey Kile scored his tenth goal of the season. The assists went to Chris Trouba and Joey Baez.
Kenai River pulled the goalie late in an attempt to mount a comeback, but Kade Phipps and the Tomahawks were able to turn away all Kenai River’s chances.
The Tomahawks are back in action tomorrow night at home vs the Kenai River Brown Bears.
