Tomahawks Tender Two Players

JOHNSTOWN, Pa. – Johnstown Tomahawks General Manager Rick Boyd today announced the team has tendered two players: Shane Cuckovich and Trevor Recktenwald. Cuckovich, a defenseman from Rochester Hills, MI comes from HoneyBaked Midget Major hockey club and Recktenwald, a forward from Venetia, PA currently plays for the Pittsburgh Viper Stars 18U team.

The Honeybaked Midget Major team is based out of Oak Park, MI and competes in the Midwest Elite Hockey League. The program is well known for developing elite talent. During the 2011-2012 season, 12 former HoneyBaked alumni played in the National Hockey League (NHL). The Pittsburgh Viper Stars are a AAA Tier I member of the North American Prospects League (NAPHL). More than 10 former members of this club have played or currently play in the NAHL.

When a player signs a tender with a NAHL team, his rights belong to that team and he may not be recruited by any other NAHL club. Per league rules, each team is granted ten (10) tenders – plus or minus any trades – which become active on Nov. 1. Tendered players are not eligible for the NAHL draft. All tendered and drafted players are eligible to try out for any team in any league other than the NAHL in the U.S. and Canada.

This weekend, the Tomahawks play the Michigan Warriors on Jan. 18 and 19 at 7 p.m. at the War Memorial Arena. On Saturday, Jan. 19, the team will present Hockey Heritage Night, paying tribute to Johnstown’s renowned hockey history with displays and participation from local hockey teams. The first 500 fans to enter the arena will receive a Tomahawks souvenir puck. Tickets are available by calling Ticketmaster at 1-800-745-3000 or visiting www.JohnstownTomahawks.com.
