Tomahawks Top Generals Friday Night

Nov 4, 2022

The Johnstown Tomahawks won the first of two games this weekend against the Northeast Generals by a final score of 4-1 on Friday night in Attleboro, Massachusetts.

Goaltending Adam Johnson made his debut in net for the Tomahawks Friday night and had a flawless first period, stopping all nine shots faced by the Northeast offense. Drake Albers capitalized on the power play to give the Tomahawks a 1-0 lead late in the opening period, which carried over to the second.

Ryan Panico netted his third of the season 8:59 into the second period, extending Johnstown’s lead to two. Both squads showed discipline in the middle frame, as they only penalties were coincidental roughing minors to Jared Scott and Anthony Galante, compared to the five penalties called in the first.

Just after the Johnstown power play expired, Albers found the back of the net again for the Tomahawks, scoring his ninth goal of the season. Jake LaRusso lit the lamp for Northeast and got them on the board with 10:52 remaining in regulation, solving Johnson for the first time Friday night. Johnny Ulicny secured the win for the Tomahawks with an empty net goal, making for a 4-1 final from Attleboro.

Johnstown and Northeast drop the puck again tomorrow from New England Sports Village at 7 PM for the back half of the weekend series in Massachusetts on HockeyTV.
