Tomahawks Top Nordiques in Three Game Series

Dec 10, 2022

The Johnstown Tomahawks top the Maine Nordiques 5-2 on Saturday night to earn four of six possible points on the weekend.

James Barbour scored the ‘teddy bear’ goal on Teddy Bear Toss Night to get the Tomahawks on the board with his eighth goal of the season coming 6:36 into the first period. With just 1:45 remaining in the second period, Sterling Wolters tied the game up for Maine with his third goal of the season.

After going scoreless for awhile in the second period, Johnny Ulicny netted his sixth of the season to regain the lead for the Tomahawks at the 9:41 mark. Maine and Johnstown both began to show their dislikes toward each other, facing off for the third time in as many days with penalty minutes piling up after Ulicny’s goal to help set the tone for an exciting and dramatic third period.

Kellen Murphy tied the game up for Maine with a goal 2:09 into the third. The rest of the period was all Tomahawks as Anthony Galante scored twice and Ulicny tallied his second goal of the game. Ulicny’s goal and Galante’s second came just 12 seconds apart, lifting the Tomahawks past the Nordiques with a 5-2 win.

The Tomahawks are back at 1ST SUMMIT ARENA again next weekend on Friday, December 16 at 7:30 PM and Saturday, December 17 at 7:00 PM as the New Jersey Titans make their first trip to Johnstown for the season. Tickets are available at Ticketmaster.com.
