Nov 26, 2022

The Johnstown Tomahawks topped the Philadelphia Rebels Saturday night 3-1, evening up the weekend series on road in Sewell.

While the first period was scoreless, it certainly did not lack action as both teams combined for 38 penalty minutes in the opening 20. Netminders Alec Rajalin-Scharp and Jakub Krbecek combined for 17 saves.

Dominic Foglia opened the scoring 4:06 into the second period, putting Philadelphia up 1-0. Johnstown responded as Zach Aben got the Tomahawks on the board on the power play just over a minute later, knotting the game at one. Then with just 18 seconds remaining in the middle frame, captain Ryan Vellucci put the Tomahawks up 2-1, giving them the lead to start the third period.

After a quiet third period, Anthony Galante secured the win for Johnstown with an empty net goal with 1:40 remaining in regulation, giving the Tomahawks a 3-1 lead to close out the game.

The two teams face off again tomorrow afternoon at 2:30 PM at Hollydell Ice Arena to close out the three-game weekend series. Catch all the action live on HockeyTV.
