The Johnstown Tomahawks defeated the Rochester Jr. Americans by a score of 7 -5 on Saturday Night.
Tonight’s game unfolded much like the previous night, as Rochester secured an early lead with a power-play goal eight minutes into the first period against the Johnstown Tomahawks. They extended their advantage to 2-0, mirroring the previous night’s performance. However, the Tomahawks fought back when Will Moore scored the Teddy Bear goal, assisted by Justin Rapp and Chase Sandhu. Shortly thereafter, Jaden Johnson leveled the score at two with assists from Justin Gibson and Nick White just three minutes later. The teams entered the locker room with the game tied at two.
The second period kicked off with a burst of action, as Johnstown Tomahawks’ Captain Zach Aben, assisted by Will Lawrence, propelled the team to a 3-2 lead. Just a minute later, Alexey Yarmulnik extended the Tomahawks’ advantage to 4-2 with an assist from Dylan Shane. The Tomahawks continued their scoring spree as Justin Gibson contributed, securing a 5-2 lead with help from Will Moore. Although Rochester found the net with 5:30 remaining, narrowing the gap to 5-3, the Tomahawks persisted. Justin Rapp scored on the power play, assisted by Will Moore and Justin Gibson, maintaining a 6-3 advantage for the Tomahawks as the second period concluded.
The third period commenced with Nick White initiating the scoring through a power-play goal, assisted by Jaden Johnson, bringing the score to 7-3 in favor of the Tomahawks. Despite the Rochester Jr. Americans adding two more goals, the Tomahawks emerged victorious with a final score of 7-5.
