The Johnstown Tomahawks defeated the New Jersey Titans Saturday night by a score of 6-4.
New Jersey wasted no time, securing a rapid power-play goal. A mere ten minutes later, Will Moore, making his comeback in the Johnstown tour, netted a power-play goal to even the score at one, with crucial assists from Zach Aben and Justin Gibson. As the intensity of the game escalated, New Jersey seized the lead, making it 2-1 with another power-play goal. At the end of an action-packed 20 minutes, the Johnstown Tomahawks found themselves trailing by a single goal as they headed to the locker room.
The second period was nothing short of intense. New Jersey ignited the scoring, pushing them to a 3-1 advantage. However, the Hawks were undeterred. Captain Zach Aben netted his sixth goal of the season, with Klemm and Lawrence providing assists, narrowing the score to 3-2. Just moments afterward, Will Lawrence secured his second goal of the season, with assists from Zach Aben and Hayes Hundley, leveling the game at 3 apiece. The buzzer would ring at the end of the second period with the score knotted at 3.
The third period provided quite the spectacle as the Titans initiated the scoring, taking a 4-3 lead. However, with only three minutes left in regulation, Lukas Klemm leveled the game at four, receiving assists from Dylan Shane and Alex Legkov. Just as it seemed like overtime was inevitable, Nick White delivered the game-winning goal with just 30 seconds remaining, with assists from Zach Aben and Will Lawrence, putting the Tomahawks in front 5-4. Following a New Jersey timeout, Zach Aben sealed the victory with an empty-net goal, with an assist from Will Lawrence. The Tomahawks clinched a 6-4 win over the New Jersey Titans.
The Johnstown Tomahawks will enjoy a bye weekend next week but are set to make a comeback on Friday, October 27th, and Saturday, October 28th, in Middleton, New Jersey, where they’ll take on the New Jersey Titans.
