Tomahawks Win 10th Consecutive in 2-1 Shootout Win

– The Johnstown Tomahawks picked up their 10th consecutive victory in a close 2-1 shootout win over Maryland Saturday night.
Both teams failed to crack either goaltender in the first period as Maryland outshot the Tomahawks 6-5.
Defenseman Owen Arfstrom would crack the scoreless tie at the 7:38 mark of the second period when his shot from the point hit the crossbar and beat Black Bears goalie David Tomeo.
he Black Bears responded late in the second when Daylon Mannon’s shot hit the left post behind Tomahawks goalie Carter McPhail and in the back of the net for a 1-1 tie going into the second intermission.
It was a back and forth game in the third period, but neither team could solve their respective goalies.
Maryland and Johnstown skated to a 1-1 tie at the end of regulation.
Overtime solved nothing and both teams skated to a shootout.
Joe Mancuso scored in the first round of the shootout for Maryland and Carson Brière was stoned by Tomeo.
It would be up to Cameron Hebert to keep the Tomahawks in the game in round three and his wrist shot beat Tomeo glove side.
After McPhail stopped Jonathan Young in sudden death, Roman Kraemer slipped the puck five-hole behind Tomeo to seal the victory for Johnstown.
The Tomahawks are back on home ice Friday, Nov. 16 at 8:05 p.m. against the New Jersey Titans. Fans will receive a Christmas ornament courtesy of Admiral Peary Vo-Tech while supplies last.
Saturday, Nov. 17 is Star Wars Night presented by Beginnings, Inc. Come dressed up as your favorite character from the iconic franchise. Faceoff is set for 7 p.m.
