JOHNSTOWN, Penn. – The Johnstown Tomahawks took on the New Jersey Titans tonight in Middletown, NJ.
Pavel Kharin started the scoring early 3 minutes into the 1st period, giving the Tomahawks a 1-0 lead. His goal was assisted by Andrew Murphy and Brendan Blair. With just a minute left in the period, rivalry tensions grew high. Johnstown’s Carson Gallagher was severed with a 5-minute major and a 10-minute misconduct for fighting. New Jersey’s Kyle Jeffers was severed a 5-minute major for fighting and a 10-minute misconduct for unsportsmanlike conduct. The penalties didn’t stop there. Kyler Head from the Titans was severed a 2-minute minor for unsportsmanlike conduct and a 2-minute minor for roughing. Tomahawk’s Tristan Poissant was severed a 2-minute minor at the end of the period for unsportsmanlike conduct.
During the 2nd period, Ryan Poorman of Johnstown gave the Tomahawks a 2-0 lead over the Titans. New Jersey’s Michael Outzen, Kyler Head and Cam Gendron each scored a goal, giving the lead to New Jersey.
There was no stopping the Tomahawks during the 3rd period. Defenceman, Matthew Doyle, scored his second goal of the season to tie up the game. Carson Gallagher with the assistance of Bennett Stockdale put the puck in the net giving Johnstown the lead. Ryan Poorman scores with the assistance of Bennett Stockdale again, giving the Hawks a 5-3 lead over New Jersey.
The Tomahawks beat 1st place New Jersey Titans 5-3, though the Tomahawks continue to sit in 2nd place in the division behind New Jersey. In other East Division action, Wilkes-Barre/Scranton falls 3-4 to Northeast. The Jamestown Rebels beat Maryland 3-2.
