Tomahawks Win in Overtime Thriller Over Rebels

The Johnstown Tomahawks defeated the Philadelphia Rebels 6-5 in overtime Saturday night in the second of three games on the weekend on Pucks and Paws Night in Johnstown.

Luke deVris opened the scoring for Philadelphia 4:51 into the game Saturday, and Johnstown responded eight minutes later with a power play goal from Will Lawrence, tying the game at 1. With 38.7 seconds remaining in the first period, Connor Sedlak scored his nineteenth of the season for the Rebels to give them a 2-1 lead to end the first period.

The Tomahawks tied things up early in the second period with a goal from Will Moore, but Philadelphia’s Max Hamstad responded just 14 seconds later to regain the lead at 3-2. Drake Albers went on to score his nineteenth and twentieth goals of the season 2:41 apart to give the Tomahawks a 4-3 lead going into the third period.

Kristians Samitis tied the game once again for Philadelphia just 1:22 into the third period. David Deputy then regained the lead for the Rebels with 5:50 remaining in regulation. Johnny Ulicny tied the game for Johnstown with 2:48 remaining in regulation, sending the game to overtime.

Anthony Galante netted the game-winning goal 2:05 into overtime to give Johnstown the 6-5 win in the second of three over the Rebels.

The Tomahawks and Rebels are back in action tomorrow at 3 pm for Sunday matinee hockey at 1ST SUMMIT ARENA. Tickets can be purchased at ticketmaster.com.
