Nov 25, 2016

TOMAHAWKS (13-7-2) at KNIGHTS (11-12-0)

Location: Cambria County War Memorial | Johnstown, Pennsylvania

Faceoff: Friday (7:30 p.m.), Saturday (7:00 p.m.)

THE JOHNSTOWN TOMAHAWKS

After a brief sojourn to Northeastern Pennsylvania, the Johnstown Tomahawks return to the friendly confines of the Cambria County War Memorial Arena Friday and Saturday to take on the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Knights.

Johnstown looks to get back into the win column this weekend as they are searching for their first win since November 4 when they defeated the New Jersey Titans 5-3 in Middletown, NJ.

Last weekend, the Tomahawks fell to the Knights in back-to-back contests. Friday night the Tomahawks fell behind 3-0 before mounting a ferocious comeback attempt late in the third period.

Nick Bruce scored his eighth goal of the season at 16:57 of the third period. Zak Galambos and Filips Buncis assisted on the goal.

At 18:05, Pittsburgh native Tommy Horn slid the puck past Knights goaltender Grant Valentine for his fourth tally of the season. Samuel Solensky and Adam Pilewicz registered helpers.

However, the Tomahawks comeback bid fell short and the Knights skated to a 3-2 win.

Saturday’s game featured a shutout from Valentine and a 3-0 victory for Wilkes-Barre/Scranton.

Now, the Tomahawks play host to the Knights for the first time this season.

This weekend, the Tomahawks will wear specialty Black & Gold jerseys for Black & Gold weekend presented by Miller’s Martial Arts, Cambria Care and Silverman, Tokarsky, Forman and Hill, LLC.

THE WILKES-BARRE/SCRANTON KNIGHTS

The Knights ride into Johnstown after a weekend sweep of the Tomahawks including a 3-0 shutout Saturday night.

Leading the way for the Knights is forward Khristian Acosta, who was acquired in October from the New Jersey Hitmen of the United States Premier Hockey League. And through 13 games played with the Knights, Acosta has earned six points and 10 assists in 16 games.

Also bringing the productivity is former New Jersey Titans forward, Mike Gelatt, who has 15 points (five goals, 10 assists) in 15 games. Gelatt also bring a gritty edge to the Knights attack.
