The Johnstown Tomahawks are proud to announce Zach Aben as the team captain for the upcoming 2023-2024 season. Aben’s leadership and dedication make him the ideal choice to lead the Tomahawks to success.

“Zach has leadership and character running through his veins,” said Johnstown Tomahawks Head Coach Mike Letizia.  “His commitment on and off the ice is exemplary of what we hope all of our players strive for.  Since Zach joined the Tomahawks organization as a tender before the 2022–2023 season, we envisioned the moment when he became our team captain. We look forward to our team’s guidance under his direction and could not be more proud to have him leading our team.”

Aben, a Shavertown, PA native, played 35 games for the Tomahawks last season tallying 12 goals and 12 assists before a season-ending injury during the 2022-2023 season. The ‘03 forward who was a tender for the team during the 2021-2022 season, leadership on and off the ice will play a crucial role in the team’s quest for the Robertson Cup.

“I am very grateful for this opportunity,” said Captain Zach Aben. “It means a lot and is an honor that I will take great pride in. We have a special group this year that pushes each other to our limits every day. We are looking forward to getting after it and giving the best fans in the NAHL a great season.”

Aben and the rest of the 2023-2024 Johnstown Tomahawks will open their season this Friday, September 8th, on the road in Maryland to face off against the Black Bears for the first weekend series of the season.
