Ice Dogs Skate Past Tomahawks

FAIRBANKS, AK — The Fairbanks Ice Dogs defeated the Johnstown Tomahawks 5-0 at the Big Dipper Ice Arena Friday night.

The Ice Dogs chipped in the game’s first goal when Connor Chilton’s shot beat Tomahawks netminder Kade Phipps at the 4:10 mark of the first period.

Less than five minutes later, Caleb Hite would give the Ice Dogs a 2-0 lead.

In the second period, the Tomahawks and Ice Dogs exchanged chances but it would be Fairbanks that scored the next marker.

At 12:38 of the second period, Robert Blueger scored his 11th of the season on the power play to give Fairbanks a 3-0 lead.

The Ice Dogs added to their lead early in the third period when Nolan Schaeffer scored his seventh of the season at 4:32.

Fairbanks set the final at 5-0 with a goal from Jack Johnston at 17:46 of the third period.

Both teams meet again Saturday night for a 11:30 p.m. faceoff.
