Leavy’s 33-Save Performance Leads Tomahawks to Win

Jack Leavy had a 33-save performance and helped his team, the Johnstown Tomahawks, pick up a 4-1 win over the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Knights splitting the weekend series.
The first period saw only one goal scored and it went in favor of the Tomahawks. At 4:58 Roman Kreamer netted his sixth goal of the season beating goaltender, David Tomeo. The assists went to Samuel Solensky and Carter Dwyer.
The Tomahawks took their 1-0 lead into the second period of play.
In the second period, Johnstown added to their lead. This time it was Samuel Solensky who poked in a loose puck behind the Knights’ goaltender. The assists went to Roman Kraemer and Toby Sengvongxay at 4:23. Once again, this was the only goal of the period.
Johnstown entered the third with a 2-0 lead.
Early in the third period, while on the penalty kill, Johnstown added to their lead. Pavel Kharin scored a shorthanded, unassisted, goal after David Tomeo misplayed the puck. The goal came at 3:49.
At 16:10, while on the power play. and with the goalie pulled. the Knights ended the Tomahawks shutout when Matthew Kidney scored his ninth goal of the season. The assists went to Anthony Firriolo and Mike Gelatt.
Johnstown would seal the deal with an empty net goal at 18:04 from Samuel Solensky, his second goal of the game. The lone assist went to Donovan Ott.
Jack Leavy picked up his second win of the season turning away 33 of 34 shots as the Johnstown Tomahawks beat the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Knights 4-1.
Johnstown will be back on home ice December 1-3, 2017 when they host the New Jersey Titans for a three-game weekend.

On December 2, 2017 it’s the annual Teddy Bear Toss, along with Faith and Family Night. Fans are encouraged to bring a new or gently-used plush toy to throw on the ice upon the Hawks scoring their first goal. Donations benefit All-4-Smiles, Buddy’s Christmas Wish and Toys-for-Tots. Santa Clause will visit the fans for his pre-Christmas celebration at the rink as well. The first 1,000 fans get a collectible Tomahawks Card Set. There will be live music and the 10K To$$ – chance to win $10,000 cash playing blue Chuck-a-Pucks.
Then on Sunday, December 3, 2017 it’s Pack the House For Charity presented by the Community Foundation for the Alleghenies. First 1,000 fans will be able to play Hawkey Bingo. Watch, play, win! Following the game is a post-game skate and Autograph session with the Tomahawks’ players.
