Tonight’s Promotions

            Tonight the Tomahawks will hold the annual teddy bear toss. Fans are encouraged to bring stuffed animals to throw onto the ice when the Tomahawks score their first goal of the game. Fans can also bring toys and place them in the bins in the concourse. All toys that are donated will benefit local children. Fans are also encouraged to bring non-perishable food items tonight to benefit St. Vincent dePaul. All fans bringing in a donation will receive one Tomahawks trading card per item, up to four cards, while supplies last. The cards will not be the same ones that were given away last night.

Last Night

            The Tomahawks used three power-play goals, including two in the third period, to defeat Port Huron 4-3 on Friday night. The Tomahawks snapped the Fighting Falcons 10-game point scoring streak with the win.

            Johnstown jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first period, as Zach Wallace and Brandon Reinholz scored at 11:22 and 15:30. Port Huron’s Logan Lambdin tied the game with a pair of second period goals at 1:36 and 6:03.

            Early in the third period, the Tomahawks took advantage of a five-on-three opportunity to retake the lead. Mitch Hall made it 3-2 at 2:42, before Matthew Meier scored the game-winner at 4:05. Port Huron would get a goal by Niko Coffman at 8:05 to make it a 4-3. The Fighting Falcons had opportunities late in the game, but Okicki and the defense stood strong to seal the victory.

            Alex Okicki earned the win, stopping 25 of 28 shots. Alex Blankenburg took the loss, his first of the season, giving up four goals on 40 shots.

            Following tonight’s game, the Tomahawks travel to Wenatchee, Wash. to take on the Wenatchee Wild Nov. 30 and Dec. 1. They will take on the Wild again the following weekend.
