Tomahawks Earn Point in 2-1 Overtime Loss

            The Johnstown Tomahawks made it to overtime on Sunday afternoon, but a late goal in the extra period gave the Soo Eagles the 2-1 victory. The Tomahawks earned three out of four points on the weekend, putting them in a three-way tie for fourth place in the division.

            After a scoreless first period, the Eagles got on the board, as Dan Weaver scored 6:22 into the second period. Denver Pierce and Keegan Miller earned the assists for the Eagles.

            With just 57 seconds remaining in the second period, Zac Robbins tied the game with his second goal of the season. Casey Linkenheld added the assist on the goal, giving him four points (2G-2A) in his last five games.

            Halfway through the third period, Zach Zech was awarded a penalty shot, but Soo goaltender Jack Berry made the save to keep the game tied at one.

            The game remained tied until overtime, when Keegan Miller scored a power-play goal with 51 seconds remaining. Mitch Vanderburg earned the assist on the game-winner.

            Berry earned the win, stopping 26 of 27 shots. Ryan Bednard took the loss, stopping 35 of 36 shots. Andy Lee came in during the second period for 1:16, as Bednard exited the game for equipment repair. He faced only one shot, which was the goal by Weaver. The Tomahawks went 0-for-8 on the power-play and 6-for-7 on the penalty kill.
