Tomahawks Fall To Eagles 5-2

JOHNSTOWN, PA –For the second straight game, the Johnstown Tomahawks overcame a two-goal deficit with a pair of second period goals. Unfortunately, the comeback came up short, as the Soo Eagles scored three unanswered goals in the third period for a 5-2 victory on Friday night at the Cambria County War Memorial Arena.

Soo jumped out to a 2-0 lead late in the first period, as Mitch Vanderburg and Chase Matson scored power-play goals at 16:53 and 18:55.

The Tomahawks responded 42 seconds into the second period, as Casey Linkenheld scored on a shot past the right pad of Soo goaltender Chad Catt. Nick Le Sage and Trevor Recktenwald each added assists on Linkenheld’s 21st goal of the season.

Just over a minute later, Le Sage tied the game, as his shot from between the circles hit the cross bar and bounced into the net at 1:56. Recktenwald and Alex Alger earned the assists on the power-play goal.

The Eagles regained the lead with 8:32 remaining in regulation, as Brad Pung provided Raymond Brice with a quick pass in front of the net, leading to a shot past the right side of Bednard.

Soo set the final score at 5-2 with a Keegan Miller goal off of Bednard at 14:16 and a power-play goal by Michael Caruso with 1:55 remaining in regulation.
