THE JOHNSTOWN TOMAHAWKS AND NEW HAMPSHIRE MOUNTAIN KINGS SPLIT THE WEEKEND

Mar 3, 2024

The Johnstown Tomahawks and the New Hampshire Mountain Kings split the weekend.

The period started off strong with both teams coming ready to battle. There was not much action until Lukas Klemm was called for holding with 6 minutes and 43 seconds left in the period. The Tomahawks were able to kill off the penalty and just 3 minutes and 13 seconds after Klemm got out of the box he scored the first goal of the game with assists from Hank Reed and Justin Gibson. However, the lead was short lived as a Mountain King was able to get one passed Jacob Osborne. The two teams headed into their respected locker rooms tied up at 1.

The second period featured a lot of penalties. A Mountain King was first called for head contact, and then, roughly three minutes later, Tomahawks Sean Morgan was called for interference and had to sit for two minutes. During that time, New Hampshire scored on a power play. Ultimately, a holding call on a Mountain King gave the Tomahawks a power-play goal of their own. With help from Reid Lune and Will Lawrence, Johnstown’s captain Zach Aben scored a goal during the power play. At the very end of the period Gibson and a New Hampshire player were called for roughing. After only having eight shots in the first period, the Tomahawks were able to get more shots in the second finishing the period with 13 shots on net. Once more, this period ended in a tie, but this time tied up at 2.

Starting off the third period a New Hampshire player found the back of the Tomahawks net, ending the tie game quickly. A Mountain King and Will Moore went to the box after being called for roughing. Just 5 seconds later the Tomahawks had a 5 on 3 advantage after another Mountain King went to the box for slashing but they were unable to score. New Hampshire held onto this lead for the remainder of the game.

The Johnstown Tomahawks will face the Rochester Jr. Americans on Wednesday, March 6 at 7:00 PM. Followed by two games March 8 and 9 against the Northeast Generals. As always, stay up to date with your Johnstown Tomahawks by following us on social media.
