Tomahawks Players Launch “Hawks Help” Initiative

Nov 30, 2023

The Johnstown Tomahawks are thrilled to announce the launch of their latest community-driven endeavor, “Hawks Help.” This initiative is player-created and developed and reflects the organization’s commitment to making a positive impact off the ice by encouraging players to volunteer on their own time for various community service activities.

The inception of the “Hawks Help” Initiative underscores the unwavering commitment of the Tomahawks players to strengthen the ties between the team and the Johnstown community. Harnessing the players’ fervor for making a positive impact, the initiative is designed to forge meaningful connections and enhance the overall well-being of local residents. As part of their commitment, players will actively pursue a monthly service opportunity of their choosing, in addition to participating in team-organized volunteer activities. This initiative represents a genuine effort by the players to contribute to the community’s betterment on a personal and individual level.

“Our Hawks Help initiative will not only bring our team closer to each other and closer with the surrounding community but it will also build our character and make us better people”, said Johnstown Tomahawks Captain and Hawks Help Creator, Zach Aben. “The program will allow us to branch out and positively impact those in the Johnstown community who have been so supportive of us. Having good character guys in the locker room goes such a long way in maintaining and improving the great culture that Coach Letizia and former players have set for the Tomahawks organization.”

“Embracing the “Hawks Help Program,” we extend our wings beyond the ice, fostering personal growth, teamwork, and strong character through monthly volunteering,” said Johnstown Tomahawks Director of Community Relations, Melissa Kauffman. “As Johnstown Tomahawks, our commitment to the community goes beyond the rink. Each player, setting up independent opportunities, contributes to a mosaic of positive change. By capturing and sharing these moments, we not only inspire our team but also spotlight the impact, making a lasting difference in Johnstown. We look forward to continuing to make a meaningful impact together!”
